The BPC Business Payments Coalition has announced the extension of its e-invoicing pilot
program into 2023. The program, which kicked off in April, will soon encompass 100
participating businesses. The goal is to implement a comprehensive public scheme by 2023,
available for voluntary adoption. As of May 2022, over 75 international businesses have
joined the pilot, with a rollout planned in three stages. Taxera is a participant in this pilot
The goal is to encourage the adoption of e-invoicing in both B2G and B2B sectors in the US,
which is lagging behind in this area compared to the rest of the world. This pilot follows a
proof-of-concept project for a four-corner network, based on a DNS model.
The US network will facilitate all types of businesses to exchange e-invoices by establishing a
secure, open e-invoice delivery framework among providers. The successful proof-of–
concept indicated a feasible route towards creating an e-invoice exchange framework and
signaled a substantial move towards automating B2B invoice exchange in the United States.
The federated registry services model allows authorized administrators or registrars (either
centralized or decentralized) to register and onboard participants into the e-invoice
exchange framework.
Similar to registering a new email address on email systems, onboarding can be accomplished by inputting and storing a participant’s identification and routing information into any DNS namespace with the Name Authority Pointer (NAPTR)
resource record4, enabling a dynamic discovery process through a specialized textual lookup and redirection function.
