Overview

Brazil pioneered Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC) with its Nota Fiscal Eletrônica (NF-e) system. All commercial transactions require pre-authorization from SEFAZ before the goods can be shipped.

Key Requirements

NF-e (goods): XML invoice must be authorized by SEFAZ before shipment

NFS-e (services): Municipal-level electronic service invoices

CT-e (transport): Electronic transport documents

Real-time validation and authorization required

DANFE (document) must accompany physical goods
